The ACGME is pleased to welcome DIOs and other GME leaders for two days of learning and collaboration to support improvement and innovation in Sponsoring Institutions and clinical learning environments for GME. Leaders from Sponsoring Institutions, clinical learning environments, and the ACGME will provide sessions that address challenges and successes in transformational GME and clinical learning environment leadership. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore new and ongoing initiatives and programs across ACGME departments.

These one-hour Zoom calls will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Central and are open to the entire GME community. During these sessions, participants will provide information about efforts in GME and MUA/P, solve for common challenges, and share helpful resources. GME institution and program leaders will connect with peers and ACGME representatives in large group discussion and Q and A with the speakers.

The ACGME and Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation have a partnership to present the Catalyst Awards for Transformation in Graduate Medical Education. For this cycle, selected projects will receive up to $100,000 over 18 months. Successful proposals will design, implement, and evaluate innovative strategies to equip learners with tools, skills, and approaches to help them thrive in the clinical learning environment.

Request for Public Review and Comment on the Institutional Requirements
The IRC requests feedback on the proposed major revision to the Institutional Requirements.
The IRC has developed Institutional Requirements that represent the continuing evolution of the Sponsoring Institution, its programs, and its relationship to clinical learning environments for resident and fellow education. To develop durable requirements through 2035 and beyond, the IRC has participated in an intensive period of discovery, collaboration, and reflection to simplify and build upon its minimum standards for Sponsoring Institutions, and welcomes additional feedback from all individuals and organizations that wish to provide comments.
For the first time, the IRC has included Background and Intent statements to introduce some of the new requirements. The Impact Statement offers additional context and proposed timelines for implementation. In order to provide enhanced opportunities for feedback and engagement among GME stakeholders, the IRC plans to offer two 45-day review and comment periods.

Participate in a Pilot for Obstetrics and Gynecology Programs
The Review Committee for Obstetrics and Gynecology announces a vaginal hysterectomy (VH)/operative vaginal delivery (OVD) pilot in effect immediately for 2025 graduates. The volume of these procedures has declined nationally although they remain very important in the care of the patients the specialty serves.
The goal of the pilot is to consolidate these procedures into the hands of those who will most likely continue to do them in practice. Total program minimums will not change. A program with four residents per year will be required to show 60 VH/OVDs annually, however based on the new pilot guidelines, the distribution of cases per resident may vary. Programs not meeting these total program minimums will be cited. All residents are expected to have equitable educational experiences until The Match®.
Additionally, resident experience cannot be “zero” in VH or OVD, regardless of The Match®. For those residents who match into maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery programs, less than 15 procedures will be allowable as follows:
- Residents matched into gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery programs can have fewer than 15 OVDs without citation.
- Residents matched into maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility programs can have fewer than 15 VHs without citation.
All programs may participate in the pilot program, and do not need to enroll. Programs are asked to self-identify participation in the pilot and share specific resident training experiences related to the pilot in the “Major Changes” section of the Accreditation Data System (ADS) Annual Update.

Must be certified by the relevant American Board of Medical Specialties member board or American Osteopathic Association certifying board.

Must be able to devote sufficient time to the Appeals Panel work.

Should have at least three years' experience as a program director, department chair, associate/assistant program director, and/or core faculty member.

Applicants not currently serving in one of these roles may be considered if they held one of these positions within the last three years.

Applicants’ programs must have a status of Continued Accreditation.

Remediation of Professionalism: Working with the Disengaged Learner Workshop
Professionalism is vital in medical education and training, yet lapses remain common, affecting both patient care and team dynamics. This engaging 90-minute webinar, offered at no cost to the GME community, will equip participants with strategies to identify and address unprofessional behavior among residents and fellows. Designed for program directors, educators, and mentors, this session will help foster a culture of professionalism and improve learner engagement.

Public members share the perspective of the public, foster public accountability, enrich the work of the Committee through outside expertise, and create transparency. New State Approaches to Licensure of International Medical Graduates

This ACGME News and Views article offers a brief overview of recently proposed and enacted laws that authorized alternative licensure pathways for physicians who trained and/or practiced outside of the US.
