#ACGME2025 for International Attendees: A Place for Learning, Sharing, and Connecting

September 3, 2024

The global graduate medical education (GME) community is once again preparing to gather for the largest event of its kind in the world, the 2025 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, to be held 20-22 February 2025, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, US. That is less than six months away!

Attending #ACGME2025 is an opportunity to engage with peers from around the world, to share knowledge and experiences, and to learn and discuss issues of mutual importance. This multidirectional exchange of ideas is vital in building a truly global GME community for the future.

Explore how you can learn, share, and connect at the premier event for GME professionals in this overview, and start planning your trip to Nashville!

A Place for Learning
With well over a hundred unique and engaging educational sessions attended by thousands of GME specialists, there is no better place to learn and discuss the issues that global GME faces than at #ACGME2025. From challenges arising from everything from technology to societal influence and how those affect the health workforce and practitioners’ well-being, the conference provides the venue to engage with colleagues from around the world to discuss local and global trends and how they intersect glocally (learn more about “glocalization” in our ACGME and Global Health series).

Every year, the Annual Educational Conference includes educational sessions, meetings, and special events focusing on global GME. #ACGME2025 will feature focused educational sessions curated by ACGME Global Services and ACGME International (ACGME-I) covering important topics, such as mobility of the global health workforce.

For international attendees interested in learning more about the value of accreditation, this conference is a perfect opportunity to see accreditation in action. Learn about the process, from the application to site visits, and see how accreditation has benefited institutions, programs, faculty members, learners, and the public around the world. In addition, attendees can meet with staff members from both ACGME Global Services and ACGME-I to discuss advisory services and/or accreditation opportunities respectively.

A Place for Sharing
Showcase your research or innovation at #ACGME2025 by presenting a poster. There is no better way to reach a large, captive audience of GME professionals and to engage and interact with thousands of attendees looking for ideas.

Poster presentations from international-based GME scholars and innovators represent a notable percentage of the total number and have significantly contributed to the learning space. Additionally, many new research collaborations have sprung from these on-site engagements and later evolved into larger projects.

The Call for Abstracts for the 2025 conference is open now—and closes on Thursday, 26 September 2024, so do not wait (click here to submit)! Read more about the Call for Abstracts in this recent post.

A Place for Connecting
International attendees will have ample opportunity to interact and network with fellow GME professionals from all over the world at formal and informal gatherings during the conference. More details on dedicated events, ranging from research-focused to social gatherings, will be announced soon.

The 2025 recipients of the ACGME International Awards, which will be announced in late September, will be celebrated at the annual Awards dinner alongside the 2025 ACGME awardees.
