Celebrating NAM's Health Workforce Well-Being Day: The ACGME's Commitment to Health Worker Well-Being
March 18 marked the second annual Health Workforce Well-Being Day, sponsored by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), a day recognizing the critical issue of health worker burnout. This year, ACGME leadership participated in the celebratory event on March 17, with ACGME President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Debra Weinstein delivering the keynote address alongside Dr. Vivek Murthy. As a proud Change Maker Accelerator, the ACGME is dedicated to reversing trends in health worker burnout and promoting well-being.
Health Workforce Well-Being Day, held annually on March 18, was established to drive collective action, and raise awareness about the clinician burnout crisis. Health Workforce Well-Being Day builds on and elevates the National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being, which outlines seven priority areas to improve well-being. Health care organizations nationwide have embraced the day, with events in 2024 taking place across the United States. NAM released a graphic medicine project this year, demonstrating the critical health worker-patient relationship.
