Elisa (Lisa) Crouse, MD, MS, FACOG Named New Senior Vice President, Institutional and Program Accreditation
The ACGME is pleased to announce that Dr. Elisa (Lisa) Crouse will be the organization’s new Senior Vice President, Institutional and Program Accreditation.
In this role, Dr. Crouse will work closely with the Chief Accreditation Officer to direct the activities of the executive directors who support accreditation of Sponsoring Institutions and their programs across numerous medical specialties and subspecialties.
As a member of the ACGME Senior Leadership Team, Dr. Crouse will support strategic priorities and contribute to the ongoing transformation of accreditation processes, including integration of competency-based medical education principles and the modernization of the ACGME Case Log System. She will also represent the ACGME with external organizations and agencies involved in medical education, and provide critical guidance to Review Committees, executive directors, and graduate medical education (GME) leaders across the country.
Dr. Crouse joined the ACGME in 2024 as Executive Director of Institutional Accreditation and Recognition after previously serving as a member and later vice chair of the ACGME Institutional Review Committee. Her tenure has been instrumental in navigating recent leadership transitions and advancing efforts to revise the Institutional Requirements.
Dr. Crouse brings over 25 years of GME leadership experience, having served as designated institutional official and associate dean for GME at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. There, she oversaw more than 60 ACGME-accredited programs and led institutional initiatives in quality improvement, faculty development, and learner well-being. Prior to that, she spent 17 years as residency program director in obstetrics and gynecology and was the Warren M. Crosby Chair in Education.
A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and former US Air Force Major, Dr. Crouse has held academic appointments since 1998 and is a recipient of numerous national and institutional awards for teaching, leadership, and service, including the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology Service Recognition Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Resident Council Service Award from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is a respected educator, researcher, and advocate for clinical learning environment transformation and competency-based education.
Dr. Crouse holds a doctor of medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds a master of science in biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor of science in nutrition and dietetics from Purdue University.
