In one of the final sessions at the 2018 Annual Educational Conference on Sunday, March 4, a panel of ACGME executives, deans, a patient safety expert, and a resident spoke to the crowd about how medicine is changing and graduate medical education may need to evolve to serve patients well into the 21^st century.

The ACGME is excited and proud to introduce a redesign of the ACGME website. The updated site features an improved overall design, an enhanced user experience, a better interface, and a modern look and feel. While most of the content has not changed, the navigation and placement of some of the content has. This update and orientation are intended to help users understand what went into and informed this redesign, and how to move around it and find what you’re looking for.

A panel of institutional representatives and ACGME leaders discussed the successes and challenges of actively involving residents in patient safety improvement as part of the ACGME’s Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments (Pursuing Excellence) initiative. The panel convened at a sunset session at the 2019 ACGME Annual Educational Conference.

Reflecting on some of the challenges of delivering faculty development trainings to already busy and time-constricted faculty members, Colleen Kalynych, EdD and colleagues from the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville developed a knowledge- and skills-based, time-sensitive, and practical program disseminated via email.

2022 GME Institutional Coordinator Excellence Awardee Jennifer Rodgers, MS, C-TAGME works as the director of graduate medical education and institutional coordinator at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine 

Jamie Arsenyevictz, MPH, led a team at Geisinger Health System to develop a GME analysis tool, leading to the development of shared language and knowledge surrounding GME finance and value between the GME Office and Geisinger leadership.

Health provider shortage areas, comprised of urban and rural regions with high populations of people struggling with multi-morbidity and poverty, often have a challenge with physician recruitment. Dr. Meaghan Ruddy, vice president for Academic Affairs and director of Medical Education for The Wright Center for GME in Scranton, Pennsylvania, describes how a teaching health center family medicine program operationalized as a graduate medical education safety-net consortium.
