Halah Ibrahim, MD, MEHP

Dr. Halah Ibrahim is a board-certified internist with more than 25 years of experience in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education. As the Chair of Academic Affairs, founding designated institutional official, and internal medicine residency program director for Tawam Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, she spearheaded the institution’s initial achievement of ACGME International (ACGME-I) accreditation. Most recently, she worked as the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Khalifa University, overseeing clinical education and training and the transition to residency.

Dr. Ibrahim was an original member of the ACGME-I Review Committee-International prior to serving on its Board of Directors. She is a member of several regional and international advisory committees for medical education, has served as an associate editor of The Journal of Graduate Medical Education, and is a deputy editor for Teaching and Learning in Medicine. Her research interests include international medical education reform and end-of-life education and communication.

Dr. Ibrahim is a native New Yorker. Prior to moving to Abu Dhabi in 2008, she was employed as a clinician educator in lower Manhattan. She is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at The New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center (currently New York Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell). Dr. Ibrahim also holds a master’s degree in health professions education from Johns Hopkins University.
