Laura K. Green, MD

Chair, Council of Review Committee Chairs

Dr. Laura Green has served as the program director of the ophthalmology residency at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore since 2010. She earned her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, followed by a predoctoral Intramural Research Training Award at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Green graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and then completed an internship through the University of Tennessee at Baptist Hospital of Nashville, followed by ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery and ocular surface disease at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has been on the faculty of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore since 2007. Her research interests include simulation for medical and surgical training, medical education, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Dr. Green served as the Chair of the Committee for Resident Education of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, where she created innovative new educational modules, including a site for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and continues to serve as an active leader. She is a founding member of the GME:IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Education, and Awareness) committee, which plans DEI education and pipeline outreach efforts for residents and faculty members at Sinai Hospital. She also has served as the President of the Ophthalmology Program Directors’ Council, and currently is an oral board examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
