Jayne Ward, DO, FAAN, FACN
Dr. Jayne Ward is a professor and associate chair of neurology at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). Since 2003, she has served as the residency director of the Sparrow Health System/Michigan State University neurology residency, the only neurology program in the nation to have dual accreditation under the ACGME and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) prior to the transition to a single GME accreditation system. In 2015, Dr. Ward was the first AOA member selected for the ACGME Review Committee for Neurology, and has since worked on multiple subcommittees, including the Neurology Milestones 2.0 Work Group.
She serves on the Sparrow Health System Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee and is the medical director of neurosciences at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital and director of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Clinic.
Dr. Ward’s leadership in medical education reflects her extensive experience in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. She is the coordinator for the undergraduate medical neuromusculoskeletal systems course at MSUCOM and was instrumental in revising and implementing a new foundational neuroscience and neurology curriculum for that purpose. Since 2000, she has overseen the Neurology Osteopathic Residency Organization, an innovative program to provide university-level didactics to the community neurology residencies in Michigan. She has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching, curriculum contributions, and faculty excellence. A 1996 graduate of MSUCOM, Dr. Ward completed a year of internal medicine at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan, and a neurology residency at Garden City Hospital. She practices in East Lansing with a focus on neuroimmunology.
